EC09 - Stuff for you to know

REGISTRATIONS
Final cutoff is THIS FRIDAY - so jump to it. You can register online http://www.eastercamp.org.nz/
THEME IT
So you may or may not have clicked to the Roman-style theme at EC09. At our site we want to Rome-it-up a little with an Army twist, so byo all your camouflage gear—and if you need camo material check out army surplus stores or get some material at Spotlight!
You are limited only by your imagination so get as creative as you want—it would be mint to have an army of camo togas!!
TRANSPORT
We’re firmly encouraging youth groups from the greater Christchurch area to use busses to get to and from camp. This reduces traffic congestion and car parking requirements. CYS is very keen help organise this for you to ease the load on our traffic systems. The cost is $4pp each way. If you do the maths, this is still cheaper, safer and more efficient than using a car! Thanks for working with us on this one – we understand there have been a few changes. If you can’t bus, PLEASE PLEASE push carpooling hard! We have very limited car parking space and are working hard with you and the Police to make sure traffic doesn’t become a safety issue.
TENTING
Reminder: YOU BRING YOUR ACCOMMODATION!!
Space is still going to be limited. So, youth leaders PLEEEEAASSEEE can you ensure that you and your youth are being smart about what size tents you are bringing per the number of people you are bringing. (ie if you have two girls coming, DO NOT put them in an 8 man tent by themselves! Use a 2-man tent, or contact other youth groups in our Division to see if you can share.) If we find ourselves short of space and you have spare room in your tents, we might have to ask you to have extra youth in your tents.
ALSO… If you can get your tents to DHQ before 3rd April, we will put them up for you on our Firezone Verb EC Setup.
PRECAMP ACTIVITES
Along with the rest of the getup you should have received a list of Pre-Camp Activities. It would be great to hear if you are doing these (and even better to have photos!) I would love to see some Army chariots in the races at camp this year!
THE WEATHER
You may recall that last year we got a little cold and wet at EC.
Young people: PLEASE bring jackets/scarves/beanies/duvets etc to keep warm—we are a month later this year and we really really really don’t want you to get sick.
Leaders: It might be a smart idea for you to bring along extra blankets etc just in case someone didn’t bring enough. In fact, I would highly recommend it.
BRING A CAN
CYS are asking everyone coming to camp to bring a non perishable food item – we’ll be donating these to the City Mission – and relying on you to get behind it!
EASTER BUNNY HUNT
Who wants to hunt for eggs when you can hunt for THE BUNNY! The Easter Bunny will be visiting at some stage over the weekend and what better way to say ‘we care’ than by having a game with him! Bring along SOFT inflatable bats or noodles (NOTHING HARD!) and let’s hunt that bunny down! (DHQ will provide some inflatables, but there won’t be enough for everyone.)
ATTN MUSOS
Do you play and own an acoustic guitar? Bring it along to camp and join in mass acoustic worship in the Big Top. Talk about sweet music in God’s ears aye!?
YOU DON'T HAVE THE POWER
While we will have some power on site, (hopefully!) it will not be available for you to use. So think about that when packing your iPod charger, phone charger, hairdryer, hair straightener, stereo, TV and washing machine. In case you didn’t get that: THERE WILL NOT BE POWER ONSITE FOR YOU TO USE. So be a smart camper and leave the stuff at home.
ATTN LEADERS:
  • LEADERS GUIDE
Just another reminder also … LEADERS: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FULLY READ THE LEADERS GUIDE. This year this was emailed out. If you haven’t seen a copy, contact Corryn asap!
  • LEADERS TRAINING NOTES
If you didn’t make it to the Leaders Training at La Vida (New Life) Church earlier in March, you should have received the notes. If you haven’t, chase up your corps officers or contact Corryn. Please make sure you are fully informed with all the haps!!
